Twitter can be a wonderful tool for any business and it doesn’t need to take up a ton of your time. Here are some tips to help you grow your business’ Twitter following by making your account operate more efficiently. Just remember, the better the content of your tweets the more likely people will be to re-tweet, favorite and follow you.
- Make Lists!
Create lists of different types of resources that your ideal Twitter follower would find useful, informative or helpful in some way. Such as:
- Links to useful websites
- Links to informative articles
- Quotes pertaining to your topic
- Statistics that jump out at you
- Your own original thoughts about your topic(s)
- Your own website content links (Don’t over-promote your information!)
Join HootSuite for free and start scheduling your tweets weeks in advance. We schedule ours an entire month ahead of time. 3-4 tweets a day should be more than enough. This should save you a lot of time as well as ensure you are putting out information on a regular basis.
Search Twitter for hashtags that pertain to the topic of your tweets and use them to put yourself in the big picture conversation. By doing this your tweets will also be seen by people that search twitter for specific topics. Above, you can see we used the hashtags #socialmedia and #marketing with the hopes that people looking for information about social media and marketing will see our tweets and engage with us.
Find Twitter accounts that are similar to yours or that you feel are relevant to your niche and follow their followers. By doing this you are putting your account on the radar of people that have already expressed an interest in your field.
The best way to catch someone’s eye is by sharing their information with your followers. Pick out other people’s best content to share and you will greatly increase the odds of them sharing yours. Make sure the information that you retweet is relevant to your audience and that you don’t over-do it because your followers will appreciate the extra information, but they followed you for YOUR valuable content.
